differnt things same meanings

In the social studies unit I am in we have read a historical fiction book and, watched "The Patriot". "The Patriot" is a movie about a war hero who leads the colonies to victory. The only thing that makes him join the war is his dead son. The main character is based off of many war heroes in one. The historical fiction book I read was called The Fighting Ground. It is about a boy who joined a war without the permission of his parents, and then gets captured by the enemy. In the end he escapes and goes home safe. Even though the stories are different they are also alike.

Here are examples of the two stories being alike. In both The Fighting Ground and "The Patriot", the father’s son is fighting in the war. This has a negative effect on the other characters in the story because; they feel a strong need to protect Jonathan. Another way that they are alike is that the father’s son gets captured by the enemy. In “The Patriot” the son gets captured by the British because he injured. On page 3 of The Fighting Ground the main character talks to his father about joining the war. This is an important scene because it shows how much the main characters want to join the militia to gain freedom. The same thing happens to the main character in "The Patriot".

Despite all the similarities, there are many differences too. One big difference is that one of the main characters dies In "The Patriot" unlike The Fighting Ground. I think the main character in “The Patriot” die because he is inflicted with rage to kill the murderer of his wife. Also The Patriot has a militia, unlike the army in the fighting ground. In the fighting ground it was only the people who joined. In “the patriot” it was the people who joined and the French. This how the patriot and the fighting ground are different and alike.

All things might not have a lot of differences or a lot of similarities, but these two do. The movie the patriot and the book the fighting ground are not as different as you would think. Because they are more alike then dislike. These are the similarities and differences between “The Patriot” and The Fighting Ground
